Age 60 or older? Fall is the time to consider getting one of the two new RSV vaccines.

Each year, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) causes some 60,000 to 160,000 hospitalizations and 6,000 to 10,000 deaths in adults older than 65. The risks are highest for people with diabetes, heart disease, immunosuppression, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, neurologic disease, or blood disorders.

The virus is spread when someone coughs or sneezes or by touching your nose, mouth, or eyes after touching an infected surface.
