CSPI's Misinformation Combating Initiative
The goal of CSPI’s misinformation-combating initiative is to intervene in the spread of misinformation in the nutrition and health space by serving as a trusted source of clear, evidence-based information for those who may be “curious and confused”—unsure what to believe but open to learning—through all media and advocacy channels, including long-form articles, social media videos and posts, partnerships with similar organizations, and appearances in traditional media and podcasts.
CSPI’s misinformation-combating initiative provides accessible, evidence-based insights that don’t stoke fear. Ultimately, we aim to strengthen public resilience against misinformation and continue our proud legacy of being a bedrock institution for trustworthy health information.
Given current political pressures and threats to nutrition and health, our current areas of focus include addressing concerns and misinformation around diet, dietary supplements, and vaccines. We are also launching a campaign to inform the public about the value of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans—and to counter baseless attacks from MAHA on the scientific process that informs them—given their impending release.
