Biden issues executive order promoting agriculture and food biotechnology

On September 12, 2022, President Biden issued an “Executive Order on Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation for a Sustainable, Safe, and Secure American Bioeconomy.” While much of the Executive Order stresses health, medicine, energy and biological data, there are specific sections that apply to agriculture and food.

Joint Letter re: Healthy Food Incentive Recommendations

The National Alliance for Nutrition and Activity (NANA) co-signed this letter thanking Secretary Tom Vilsack of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for his steadfast commitment to supporting schools in providing healthy meals, most recently demonstrated by the announcement of $100 million through the Healthy Food Incentive (HFI) Fund, and proposes the Agency dedicate the HFI Fund to reinstate three successful initiatives while expanding them to increase their efficacy and build the capacity of key stakeholders.
