This guideline provides information on how to use and substantiate animal-raising and environment-related claims on meat and poultry products regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service. The comments below from the Center for Science in the Public Interest and the Environmental Working Group will be limited to the environment-related claims, defined by FSIS as claims that “describe how the producer maintains or improves the land or otherwise implements environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.”
